Songkran is a festival held to celebrate the Thai New Year which falls in mid-April. The Chiang Rai Songkran celebrations are very popular as there are plenty of fun activities integrated with several religious rituals.

As unusual as it may sound, the Chiang Rai Lychee Fair is well worth a visit.  Celebrating the most popular of Chiang Rai fruits, the Lychee Fair is actually more of an wider agricultural event with fresh produce a-plenty.  A delight for the taste buds!


Loi Krathong Festival

Place: Chiang Rai (8 Nov 2012 - 10 Nov 2012)

This is a very popular festival and Chiang Rai is a place that holds this festival on a grand scale. Live music, parades and beauty contests are expected to accompany the release of the offerings to the river. Local handicrafts and food are available at stalls during the festival.


King Meng Rai Festival
